FrAppDay was pushed back to Easter to see if there were any Easter Eggs hidden or update over the holiday for Android.
Perhaps we will know more in just over a week at the big T-Mobile announcement in New York City on Tuesday April 21st to see if that coincides with the latest CupCake update rumor happening in April.
Developers seem to be reading the tea leaves and are favoring writing mobile applications for Android over the iPhone by about 3 to 2 according to Skyhook Wireless.
3 to 2 is the same ratio of people in the UK that feel Android will eventually dominate the smartphone market over the iPhone according to the EE Times.
I agree with Tim Bajarin at PC Magazine that to get to that point of smartphone dominance Google will have to provide a rich set of development tools and a robust SDK for Android along with hosting major Android developers conferences to expose and train those programmers to make it grow.
Until then here are some of the latest Android applications to check out:
- Texas Hold’em Online, the classic Poker game now on Android with online opponents is fun and addictive (AndroidTapp.com Editor’s Choice). Price: Hold’em Lite = Free, Hold’em Solo = $2.00, Texas Hold’em Online = $5.00
- Dizzler “Music on Demand” brings www.Dizzler.com streaming online music to the Android phone. Price: Free
- Contact Owner is useful if you lose your phone. On the default lock screen, you can display your contact details or custom message for whoever finds it. Hopefully that good Samaritan contacts you to return it. Price: Free
